Abstract

In recent decade's years, energy supply pattern is transforming from large-scale centralized supply to regional distributed supply due to accelerating globalization, dramatic progress of energy development. Environmental pressure caused by greenhouse gas emission, traditional fossil energy depletion and the informationize in industry society. The energy demand is rising and energy-related greenhouses gas emissions are growing rapidly in China. The usage percent of renewable energy in use is still low while the energy consumption is still increasing. Due to the expanding pressure from energy demand, environment concerns and society issues, distributed energy systems (DES) is encouraged and expected to play a greater role by the government. The development of distributed energy is a revolution in the energy field; it brings not only the technology innovation but also the change of energy supply pattern. The key to promote the development of distributed energy is policy support, which is caused by its positive environmental externalities. This paper focuses on current distributed energy development policy in China. The objective of the study is to divide the development stage of distributed energy, study the driven factors of distributed energy, and propose some suggestions for the development of distributed energy.
