Abstract

The local bus is one of primary transportation mode in the urban and rural area. This is one kind of mobility options which can cover all the area. In the city of Kitakyushu, the number of car users has increased significantly while the number of public transportation is declining. This study is an initial stage of the evaluation of bus user perception. Previous studies have demonstrated several keywords that needed in the study of evaluation of passenger perception towards the bus. This study aims to evaluate passenger (student) perception towards the local bus. Respondents in this study were students of Faculty of Engineering, University of Kitakyushu. Qualitative methods are used to achieve the objective of this research. Distribution analysis is used to determine the frequency of respondent’s perception response. In this study concluded that the dominant of important factors that influence of passenger alternative transportation mode; price (fare), flexibility, and schedule.
