jailcd2021001: Modular Construction: A Better Method for Temporary Medical Buildings

Abstract

The analysis of the current method of rapid construction of temporary medical buildings, namely, site-built construction, a labor-intensive building method, reveals three practical problems: time-wasting, inaccuracy, waste of resources. This paper puts forward the idea of solving these three problems with modular construction, a more-advanced construction method, elaborates how to practice modular construction in six aspects including material selection, design of modular ward, planning for factory, pre-planning for a site, mechanized construction, and transportation and packaging. Finally, the paper offers advice on how to utilize products of modular construction in a sustainable manner.
