jailcd2017058: The Comparative Analysis of the Urban Square Space in Madrid And Xi’an Based on the Light of Space Syntax

Abstract

By applying space syntax theory and method, the research analyzed the urban square space morphology of the Madrid and Xi’an and chose some typical urban squares for the deep survey. Then a research to compare the parameters from the space syntax analysis and the actual situation survey by using Depthmap. By topological reconstruct of urban road and network, I use axis connection to express urban road system. The city center and the main road can be reflected from the analysis result. By analyzing the result between Madrid and Xi’an, the aim was to find out the inner connection between the square spatial system and the city spatial system and to check if the square spatial system influences the layout of the city center. The analysis also aims to find out the factors which affected the use of the squares by analyzing the spatial structure and the use of the squares in two cities. Also, from the analysis result the aim is to check whether the spatial structure of the squares can affect the land use function in it. At last some pieces of advice to optimize the spatial structure of the urban square are advanced based on the result.
