jailcd2017077: Study of Urban Development and Urban Typology Status—— A Case from Xi'an

Abstract

With the accelerated speed of urban development and the constant expansion in Chinese cities, the urban typology has undergone drastic changes in past tens of years. The high speed, standardization and convergence of modern city life style leads to the destruction of the traditional city structure, as well as the urban environment.  
In this study, concentrated block type city -Xi'an, is taking as an example. According to the features of building density distribution and building form, the existing form of nine representative areas are selected to compare and discuss the characteristics of urban typology, in order to explore the characteristics of spatial pattern in different types of areas. Meanwhile, the urban typology distribution and the proportion of the various urban typology of the whole Xi'an City are investigated.  
Based on the analysis about the characteristics of urban typology in Xi'an, this paper aims to build up the data base of current urban status, in order to provide hints for urban planning and construction projects in the future.
