Abstract

"Low-carbon", as a recognized development trend in the 21st century, is of great significance for the sustainable future of human development. The low-carbon concept is a fundamental way for countries around the world to implement the sustainable development and improve the environmental issues. In recent years, with the rapid popularization of higher education, which led to an increasing number of college students. Most of colleges and universities have continuously expanded their enrollment to meet the growing number of college students. Therefore, in the development of low-carbon fields, the role of colleges and universities has become more and more important. This article will take the Chinese university "Shenyang Jianzhu University " and the Japanese university "Kumamoto University" as the main research objects. Use the method of field investigation and surveys, compare the architectural design of these two universities to put forward the advantages and disadvantages of domestic university and foreign university campuses in the low-carbon field. It will also conceives the optimization plan of university campus architectural design under the concept of low carbon. At the same time, it will provides a reference for the future development of low-carbon architecture design on university campuses as well.
