Abstract

With the advancement of urbanization, the air pollutants produced by automobile exhaust, industrial exhaust and residential exhaust seriously affect the living environment of cities. Air pollution has become an important issue of global concern and a major problem of air quality in China. Taking Dalian, a coastal city in a cold region of China, as an example, this paper studies the concentration distribution of air pollutant NOx in Dalian by means of investigation of air pollution sources, actual monitoring of air pollutants, and data analysis of pollutant concentration, then explore the main factors influencing the distribution of NOx, for the sustainable development of the city and create a high quality of urban living environment. The results showed that (1) There were significant seasonal differences in the concentration of NOx in Dalian, with higher concentration in winter. (2) The distance from the pollution source is an important factor affecting the distribution of NOx in Dalian. (3) Vehicle exhaust generated by urban traffic is the main source of NOx, an air pollutant.
