jailcd2020042: Text Mining Based Analysis of Chinese Architecture Practice and Theory

Abstract

With the rapid urbanization and economy development, there is a phenomenon in China that most of the urban cities look similar, showing the ignorance of regional value and cultural characteristics. Many Chinese architects are seeking a path for developing Chinese architectural culture and theory. This paper will introduce the theory and projects of Dr. Xingtian Wang, who is one of these pioneers. Through text mining, main features were extracted from the writing of Dr. Wang. It also discusses the specific features that have been taken into consideration in the projects of Dr. Wang. It can conclude that Dr. Wang was well performed in the practice and In-site Design is an adaptive methodology to avoid homogeneity. This paper is hoping to enhance the understanding of 'In-Site' among architects, seeking a path for developing Chinese architectural culture.
