Abstract

Rapid urbanization has increased income of residents in rural settlement also changed local natural landscape, leading to gradual emergence of outdoor thermal environment, which is a significance challenge for rural public health. However, there is few studies about rural public health caused by outdoor thermal environment. Based on this, our investigate discussed outdoor thermal environment in a typical rural from Guanzhong plain in China beyond process of urbanization in 2003, 2013 and 2018. The results show that RMSE and MAPE revealed that the error values between the measured values and the simulated values in this process are all small, and the prediction of ENVI-met can be considered to have a good precision. Besides, artificial surface in our study area increased by 35.4% contributing to average air temperature rose by 0.91℃ (3.08%) and relative humidity dropped by 2.07% (4.42%) during period of rapid urbanization from 2003 to 2018; mainly as the emissivity of artificial surface is higher than that of natural surface, which caused an increase in air temperature near ground. Thus, rural researchers should consider creating a more comfortable rural living environment from perspective of improving outdoor thermal comfort. Besides, this study also provides reference for rural public health risk assessment and rural sustainable development.
