With the development of the times, the building density of city continue to increase, but the vegetation coverage rate is decreasing. In addition, the outdoor activity space for urban residents begins to disappear. As an outdoor activity area for urban residents, the thermal environment of the plaza not only has a great significance to the urban layout, but also can improve the thermal comfort of the residents' outdoor environment. Researching for the urban plaza and making investigation for its thermal environment will promote a healthy lifestyle for urban residents. As a coastal city in the cold region of China, Dalian not only has a big population, but also has the largest number of city squares. Therefore, this article selects 8 typical city squares in Dalian in order to conduct a survey of outdoor thermal environment. Firstly, collecting the square data which related to wind speed and humidity in order to get its internal connection through analysis. Then, the measured data is used to investigate the squares by perspective of function and square form. Analyzing the interference factors of thermal environment can establish reference value for the improvement of the thermal environment of the coastal city square in the cold area.
