Abstract

Hsinchu City's Old Town Area is the bamboo city during the Qing Dynasty. It was a block surrounded by Dongda Road, West Road, Beida Road and Zhonghua Road. Within one square kilometer, it is the highest density area of historical monuments group. Hsinchu city Central Market living circle belongs to the early development zone of Hsinchu City, with convenient transportation and living functions. Adjacent to the Temple of Hsinchu City, it becomes the City Temple Business District (CTBD). The CTBD is then divided into several markets and shopping malls. The Temple of Hsinchu City is a Grade three historic monument which was built in 1748. A total of seven renovations have been done since the temple was built and the latest renovation was executed for thirteen years by the Republic of China. Since the decline of the central market was discovered and the potential of the Temple of Hsinchu City business district decreased, we used questionnaires and interviews to identify the root causes of the problem and to improve the business district's camaraderie, style and future development.
