Like other informal settlements, Lebak Siliwangi has sanitation management problems. There is three typical sanitation system in Lebak Siliwangi, the formal sanitation system: provided and managed by the government, semi-formal sanitation system: provided by the government and managed by the local community, and informal sanitation system: provided and managed by the local community.80% of housing Lebak Siliwangi has an informal wastewater system and discharged directly into the environment without being processed first.
Research result shows that to improve the condition of the sanitation system in Lebak Siliwangi it is necessary to develop a communal septic tank to provide services for 1.743 residents. The proposed type of communal septic tank system is bio-septic tank that can serve 30 people, therefore it is estimated that 58 units of bio-septic tank will be needed and they can be placed along the main road or in open spaces in Lebak Siliwangi District. To manage the bio-septic tank can use two models. Firsts, provided by the government and managed by the local community, and second, provided and managed by the local community.
