Abstract

Many site museums have been constructed in China to preserve and exhibit unearthed historical sites. These museums usually have a large space building layout, which results in high energy consumption for the operation of the air conditioning system. Local heating is an energy efficient way to provide comfortable thermal environment for the visitors’ corridor. In this research, an experimental test for the local heating of the visitors’ corridor by using displacement ventilation system and air curtain system was conducted. The results show that the coupled ventilation system could provide a desired local thermal environment for the visitors’ area when the supplied air velocity of the displacement ventilation is 1.5m/s. The system proposed an effective solution for local environmental control for the visitor area in site museum.
