Abstract

Since the 20th century, with the intensification of urbanization, waste of energy and resources has always been a serious problem in the design of settlements. Most of the Chinese urbanization in the last century applied western theories without thinking. Today, this problem has become very prominent in Chinese metropolis, and it can no longer meet the urgent needs of people for high-quality life. Based on the above issues, this article applies the science of human settlements and its circulation system proposed in the "Beijing Charter" (1999), focuses its perspective on the construction of new low-carbon and high-density communities along the Hangzhou Canal. It overthrows the traditional model which is closed and boxed, through polygonal modular organization, diverse design of house types, and combination of active and passive energy saving strategies. Create a pleasant living space, good visual effects and a low-carbon physical environment, strengthen the sharing of resources between the community and city. The construction study provided a feasible development direction for urban settlements in the Yangtze River Delta region of China, with a degree of universality, and deepened the understanding of the science of human settlements in the future urban settlements.
