The distinct identities of a city are decisive for its sustainable existence. Renovation and preservation including architecture, culture, history, landscape and environmental heritage are necessary to exploit tourism and traditional values. Hang Dau Water Tower is a work of undeniable historical-cultural value in Hanoi, Vietnam - a peaceful city, underscored by a rich history that traces back more than a thousand years. Although it has existed for more than 100 years, the Tower retains almost its original appearance, its physical sustainability has created mental sustainability. Hang Dau Water Tower, which was built on a prime location with unique architecture has many favorable conditions to become an attractive tourist destination and cultural center. In fact, Hang Dau Water Tower is an intersection of numerous urban tourist routes because of its integrity and favorable location. It has been the stop of many tourists after visiting the Old Quarter. Last but not least, Hang Dau Water Tower and Van Xuan flower garden have played important roles in the spiritual life. The aims of this project are preserving, exploiting and developing the space of Hang Dau Water Tower and Van Xuan Flower Garden in order to serve tourism and conserve cultural and historical values.
