Abstract

Ngu Ha canal was built on an L-shaped old river, flowing from the west to the east in the Imperial City of Hue. Ngu Ha is the continuation of the flow of the source river - Huong River. Conservation and Embellishment issues Ngu Ha canal is currently receiving a lot of attention. There are so many problems in here: floods cause the degradation of buildings built in the citadel, Environmental pollution by sources of domestic wastewater directly to the canal, residents living encroaching on both sides gradually narrowed the canal and lost the inherent landscape. In this reseach, referring to the importance of Ngu Ha canal to Hue city landscape, the role of Ngu Ha in history and present. Synthesize and study the value of the elements that bring about the cultural space of Ngu Ha canal. Analysis of types of architecture, natural conditions, space and landscape affecting the research object. Research to clarify the value of cultural space, identify embellishment and promotion values. Identify scientific bases for preserving and promoting the architectural values of some construction along Ngu Ha canal. Restoring the river flow to serve the drainage in the inner city. From the results of the research, propose the conservation -embellishment with life of people on the both side of Ngu Ha Canal; and promote the architectural value of the heritage along the Ngu Ha Canal and connect this river with the Heritage in the heart of Hue City to serve the organization of green tourism activities in line with the tourism development orientation.
