Abstract

'Porto di Mare' is a town in the south of Milan, between the border of the city and the Corvetto district. This area owes its name to a project of 1917, but the works were never completed. With the time goes on, Milan's economic development and people's aspirations for the development of marginal areas, this place is valued again. Then it used to build and prepare for the Winter Olympics Village in 2026. Today it appears as a peripheral and fragmented margin, a border between the urban fabric and a vast system of green areas. The fact that this area has led to the emergence of important environmental problems. However, merging green utopias with actually green-architecture prototypes, creating a new kind of built environment according with the ecological aims to recovering nature in Porto di Mare. In the within of technological and environmental are called to respond to the relationships between green-built and light construction. Also focusing on building physics-energy, using method and tools to support the design of low carbon communities in the framework of urban regeneration processes.
