Abstract

Culture is a kind of humanistic characteristic with inheritance and continuity which penetrates into human's blood. Architectural design, as a kind of culture, develops in inheritance. With the development of social economy and the progress of human civilization, the design of landscape in human living spaces will inevitably change. In this paper, the similarities and differences of landscape design between the traditional and the open settlements are compared in categories and analyzed in depth. By comparison, we can see the similarities and differences between the modern and traditional residential landscapes, which brings certain enlightenments and references to our current design ideas in the meantime of proving the inheritance of culture.
