jailcd2017101: Rusunawa as a Slum Improvement: Case Studies in Cikapundung Riverbanks Area

Abstract

Slum has been often synonymous with the negative things that worsen the image of a city and also make some problems either for the people and the environment itself. Slum are unavoidable from various cities in Indonesia including Bandung, case studies taken is around Cikapundung Riverbanks area. The government power is important in taking the policy to solve the problem of slum area in Bandung. The concept of revitalizing Cikapundung Riverbanks is carried by the Mayor at this time, that is Ridwan Kamil. The solution is by Rusunawa, a dwelling building that has good integration between human beings or the environment, land use more efficient and effective because the shape of vertical building, the land use can give a green open space and water catchment areas, in addition with a lot of space can be used for a communal space. Slum improvement around Cikapundung Riverbanks area by Rusunawa makes a new open space that is Teras Cikapundung, an open space that can use for the community. This paper describes how the concept of Rusunawa in answering the problem of urban slums in Cikapundung riverbanks area and how the integration between society and Government in the concept of revitalizing regions with Rusunawa.
