Abstract

Buildings are the best witnesses and recorders of urban development. They are the memories of urban space and time, and the footprints of urban progress. These historic buildings form the symbol of the city's intention, symbolizing the different cities, and that is why the buildings are important for social, cultural, historical, humane and economic as well as other information. The research direction of this topic is the current situation of the existing large-scale aging and inefficient residential quarters in China, and the background is the call of green buildings in the process of building development. To solve a series of problems such as the function disorder of the old residential quarters, improper use of space, and the aging problem of the infrastructure from the redistribution of the site functions and the improvement of the infrastructure in regard of the overall “green” transformation demand of the residential quarters as the entry point. In this paper, the common problems of old communities are solved with “green” approaches from an existing district of Dalian City, and the majority of the macro issuesof the north districts.
