Abstract

Urban planning is technical and political process concerned with the use of land and design of the urban environment including air, water and infrastructure passing into and out of the urban area. Urban planning guides and ensure the development of the city for future generations of urban residents sustainably without affecting the environment. To ensure the implementations of urban planning effective regulations which are supported by modern land administration system are required. The Land administration system allow to record the real properties, which makes the implementations of the master plan easy to control during transactions and change of ownership. The urban planning in Ethiopia is implemented in different time in major cities and towns of the country. However, the master plans are not effective due to the absence of prominent regulations, poor planning system and lack of effective land administration system which can support and run the regulations in the country. Modern land administration is currently started in different part of the country which is encouraging for the development of cities and implementations of urban master plan. Cadaster is one of the task that are essential to build land information system to ensure and support the regulations of master plan during the implementations process.
