jailcd2015046: A Brief Introduction of the Urban Green Space Development

Abstract

The development of Chinese urban space has gone through the stages where urban space is designed in pursuit of efficiency regardless of the cost; excessive urban expansion has led the original rich green space around the city to be swallowed quickly. Cities thus became boring and lifeless, which has posed severe problems in the city's ecological system. Faced with such severe ecological dilemma, the role of urban green space began to highlight. In this paper, the development of natural open space in cities is discussed, the Parallel comparison of development green space between different regions in different periods of history is made, and differences and commonalities of urban green space development between Chinese and western countries is summarized by comparative analysis.
