This research employed the concept of “Building Type Control” to establish the hierarchy model and design guidelines for the urban regeneration process. Related theories, practices and concept of Type Control and Typology will first be discussed. A regeneration district within the existing urban environment will then be selected to be the study object. Existing building regulations and urban design policies set out by the government will also be reviewed to lay out limitation and ultimate vision for the selected study district. Specific building type control guidelines and regulations will be formulated and constructed. The established type control model can provide a more flexible urban design guidelines which can be employed more sufficiently in the process of urban regeneration, as well as fulfilling the vision and requirements for the future urban development.
