This study was to assess the existing factors that influence pedestrian comfort. The case study area was the pedestrian way along Zainal Abidin Pagar Alam (ZAPA) Street in the city of Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. This study used qualitative methods such as content analysis and also comparative analysis. This study concluded that pedestrian comfort was influenced by physical performances, non-physical interferences, and on-site obstacles. From questionnaire and observation, it was concluded that the physical performances were indicated from the design aspect (width, continuousness, flatness, modernity, aesthetic, and roughness) and the maintenance aspect (damaged parts, defective holes, and uncovered drainage man-holes). Meanwhile the non-physical interferences were indicated from the safety aspect (hazards, advertisements, roof spans, and pathway curves) and the sensory responses aspect (heat, wet, smell, vegetation, and dirtiness). And then the obstacles were categorized as permanent and non-permanent aspect. This study was also aimed to record other factors which were expected and demanded by the respondents in order to increase the pedestrian comfort.
