jailcd2015059: Research on the Condition of Kakuuchi in Kitakyushu

Abstract

“Kakuuchi” owns a long history and comes to be a local culture in Kitakyushu for many years, which means drink liquor by standing in the liquor shop. In the old times, Kitakyushu used to be a town where have lots of factories and many workers including workers in three shifts. For these three shifts workers, it is very important for them to find a place to refresh themselves after their tough work. Thus “Kakuuchi” came out as a place where they can have a relaxing time by drink little liquor, and which play an important role in people’s daily life. However, as the change of the times, the number of liquor shops had been run for a long time decreased along with the number of workers in Kitakyushu. The method of this paper is field survey by communication with shop owners. The survey objects are about 100 liquor shops in Kitakyushu. Open liquor shops are 57%, close liquor shops are 33% and unidentified liquor shops are 10%. The problem for these liquor shops is that there are no successors as huge supermarkets, other shops and so on, and the buildings are without repaired. That is why “Kakuuchi”, one of culture in Kitakyushu disappears. Therefore, this paper hopes to collect data and analyze the present situation of “Kakuuchi”, thus supply developing directions and suggestions in the future development for “Kakuuchi”.
