Abstract

In Afghanistan, mineral industry is vital important for the development of Afghanistan. It contributes to the economic growth, offer more job opportunities and also promotes the urban infrastructure. However, for a long time, the mining industry in Afghanistan is adopted by other developed countries. One problem for the mineral industry management is to tackle various data. Like the building information, weather information, geographic features in for urban as well as the minerals information. It also needs a work platform for investors, engineer, government and other related people which is great challenge for the traditional management system based on the paper map and document. This paper proposes A GIS based management system for sustainable development of mineral industries in Afghanistan which conveys the information for the mineral industries and also the urban. Firstly, it introduces the existing condition of the mineral industries in Afghanistan, including the recently policy and government prospective. Secondly it analyzes the existing problem of the mineral industries management, including the problem for investors, governments and also urban environment. Thirdly, it gives out a concept for the management system, the system structure, the data bases and also GIS analysis and application.
