Abstract

The Wangjiang district is located between two municipal function areas, the "Lakeside Commercial Disrict" and "Qianjiang New City Public Center". However, with the process of urbanization, it developed so slowly that the old city district is no longer satisfied functions of the residents. In this design, I focus on the analysis part to discover problems and fix them. This area is facing many problems, poor housing and working environment, most of the residential buildings are old and messed up, monofunction, narrow roads that cannot bear the current traffic situation. In order to mitigate these problems and improve the quality of life, place a green way throughout the site. The green way insert into the most high density urban areas, contacting the important nodes, providing a variety of social infrastructure. And many other green public spaces are placed all around the site, to decongest the space pressure and leading the natural into the centre of the city. The open city public space, compared with the single volumn construction, has a greater effect on catalysis the vitality of the city. In the riverside of the site, build a new entrance to the city railway station, to ease the traffic pressure of the old city railway station, forming a new urban traffic node. In this planning, it is also taken into consideration that the relationship between the original texture of the city and the surrounding environment, and try the best to protect the city's original structure and style.  
  The concept of this design is that the green road as the core connecting the new city and the old city, small green space built all around the site, forming green space network, the buildings are enclosing internal garden to provide residents with a certain public space at the same time to meet the function of the city. There are 3 important principles I followed in this Wangjiang urban planning.1）The cultural characteristics of the old city are closely related to the space form, and the embodiment of the cultural characteristics is further extended into the place, space perception and culture.2）Explore the spatial layout pattern of the old city. Good relationship between buildings, exquisite and unique external environment, and a rich space is the most important characteristics of the city. It is an area where people live and create their own characteristics.3）To stimulate the vitality of the old city, promoting the revitalization of the old city is the primary goal of the reconstruction of the old city.
