Abstract

Occupant behavior has a great impact onthe energy consumption, especially to the residential buildingsThe basic and important step to study suchissue is to learn the inner operation rules of occupant-relatedappliance in the household. The paper propse a definition method to describe the main characteristics ofrious timescales, based on the statistical analysis of data comingeach household appliance energy use over vafrom a half-year monitoring and investigation of a typical residential family, in Hangzhou, China. Suchnode and operation mode, which focus on the on/off regulationmethod involves two aspects as space/timeof the appliances. It was found that the usef some appliances like air conditioner in the typical family aredriven by the living schedules of the occupants, while the use of other appliances like TV are driven by therandomness. The results have certain accuracy to basically reflect the resident's energy use rules and provideeffective parameter to support further energyconsumption simulation of residential buildings
