Abstract

"Cultural Context" refers to the dialogue and the intrinsic link between the various elements, namely a kind of cultural context from a narrow sense. China's urbanization process to speed up in recent years. The city have lost its own characteristics since some streets and buildings with characteristics of traditional life have been pulled down. The emerging cityscape is often dazzling, but the bereavement of cultural connotation of buildings causes the mediocre urban visage. In other words, the unique character of the inner city but no longer significant, standardized and modular urban space is replacing the city’s personality and the differences between cities, urban culture and urban features are gradually disappearing, thousands of city side of the signs are everywhere. The continuity of the urban form is threatened. The context, carrier of the memory of a city, which is in serious need of protection. This paper takes Xiaohe Street community as an example, through the analysis of its public space from the macro, medium and micro three aspects to discuss the present situation, advantages and problems of the urban space of Xiaohe Street and provide reference for how to better design the layout of urban space and so on.
