Abstract

Bandarlampung City population growth is influenced by urbanization. That happen in order to look for decent income or jobs, better quality of education, and many other important reasons. High population growth tends to form dense settlements. Limited lands make people occupy illegal lands that cause slum areas, for example, is at the bank of the railroad. Almost all bank of a railroad in an urban area is used as a settlement. One of them is Kebunjahe settlement in Bandarlampung City. The phenomenon of illegal settlement is a problem that needs to be solved. Awareness of land ownership is still low, even the inhabitants claim the land as their own. This research has purpose of identifying the characteristics of a settlement bank of railroad at Kebunjahe. This research method is using qualitative descriptive. By doing direct observation on the spot and documentations to have more images of railroad bank settlement. This research is also used to provide a general overview about bank of railroad in Bandarlampung City as a whole. The result from this research is that we can know the settlement characteristic along bank of railroad and to know the factor of slum settlement, the settlement will be mapped so that the settlement is problem solving can be structured in the next phase.
