jailcd2019-110： A Preliminary Research on the Recognition of Traditional Crafts Transformation in Old District of Hsinchu City

Abstract

In Taiwan, every government institution is also making their utmost effort to launch and urge the community to join hands in discovery of community culture resources in the face of the challenges of new environment. The study aims at understanding the traditional crafts store on the Central Road and Datong Road of Hsinchu Old  District  based  on  Questionnaire  survey  and  interview  in  order  to  understand  the  related  historic development of this traditional industrial culture as well as the social background of industrial transformation. And we analyze the understanding of people in different age groups and different residence time in Hsinchu City on the local traditional culture, and their recognition on the transformation of traditional stores based on Cross analysis and t test. Then, it explores the existing problems and makes the reasonable suggestions, to improve the decline of traditional culture and the transformation of traditional stores.The study shows that, young people has much less understanding of traditional culture than seniors, because they are not in contact with the traditional culture at all. People of different professions have a supportive attitude towards the transformation of traditional stores, and all hope to experience for themselves, etc.To sum up, so that a conclusion related to each factor that influenced the development of industry can be generalized and useful specific policies for the future development generated. As a result, local industry can be promoted once more, traditional craft value increased, local culture more greatly valued by the public and the rush weaving craft sustainably continued.
