Abstract

In order to do thermal stress analysis of concrete for control of thermal cracking of a mass concrete structure, it is very important to correctly grasp the thermal and physical properties of the mass concrete as analysis input data. A lot of experimental data on the mechanical properties and adiabatic temperature rise properties of mass concrete has been already accumulated. The evaluation formula for those properties is shown in the ‘Guidelines for Control of Cracking of Mass Concrete1)’ published by Japan Concrete Institute. However, there is little experimental data for fly ash concrete, so it is necessary to conduct basic experiments on fly ash concrete in order to inspect the evaluation functions of fly ash concrete shown in the Guidelines and expand the applicable area of those functions. In this paper, we carried out various experiments on concrete that uses fly ash to acquire basic experimental data and were able to confirm the experimental data by comparing it with the value obtained from the evaluation formula in the Guideline.
