jailcd2019-006: Research on Welfare Facilities for the Elderly in Urban Community of Kitakyushu, Japan

Abstract

Taking Kitakyushu as an example, this paper analyses and summarizes the planning layout and architectural design characteristics of welfare facilities for the elderly in urban communities of Japan. From the perspective of planning, this paper qualitatively analyses the elderly security system of Japan, the types and characteristics of the residential nursing facilities for the elderly, the types and characteristics of the elderly self-care degree. From the perspective of designing, this paper quantitatively analyzed the elderly population, the numbers of residential welfare facilities, the number of nursing beds, the occupancy rate, nursing staff standard, residential room design  standard and  development trend. It is hoped that this paper can provide reference  for the construction of elderly facilities in other aging countries.
