Digital technologies such as virtual reality, numerical control processing, and artificial intelligence have been involved into the architectural design education more and more widely. The changes they brought to architectural teaching have highlighted the necessity of establishing a digital architectural design teaching sector in architectural education system. The changes in the application of new technologies in various industries reflect the urgency of establishing the sector to some extent.
The prosperity of digital design and construction research over the past decade has brought about the development and maturity of disciplinary theories and tools. The focus of digital construction research has gradually shifted from theory and instrumentation to practice and application, exploring the possibilities of diverse material systems from digital design to construction. Based on the above situation, the paper is trying to explore a digital architectural design teaching approach, and focusing on the traditional Chinese building materials - wood and its technology, trying to explore the process of a robotic wood structure research through the analysis of the prototype of traditional wood structure, the simulation and optimization of structural performance, and the digital construction of robotic method.
