jailcd2019-014: Research on Renovation Strategy Towards Sustainable Campus - Taking Tianjin as an Example

Abstract

Currently, launching various initiatives of green development, advocating the simple, modest, green and low-carbon lifestyle, creating supportive conditions for conservation-oriented institutions, green families, green schools, green communities and green travel, serve as the common goal of the government, enterprises and people from all walks of life in China. This article takes Tianjin as an example. Based on the characteristics of location, urban function, time of construction, land utilization, campus spatial pattern, and soon, 18 typical higher education institutions, middle schools and primary schools in the six districts are selected respectively, with a view to the diversification of the case study. By means of subjective and objective research, the analysis is conducted from the following four perspectives: overall campus planning, building performance, landscape design and traffic system, so as to address the daunting challenges encountered by different types of colleges and universities in their pursuit of sustainable campus. Based on analysis of typical examples, the strategies of sustainable campus renovation are set forth from three aspects: construction, management and activities. Meanwhile, a series of specific methods and strategies are proposed on basis of the case studies, thereby
providing reference for the sustainable development of campus.
