The pros and cons of vertical housing especially in urban areas are inevitable. Flats is currently considered as the most feasible solution to respond density due to high population growth and land price. However, the existence of city kampong in a built flats environment shall be well-considered in the design and planning process since kampong has established a strong socio-economic integration in the community. This paper aims to design a vertical kampong based on a real time Space Syntax analysis with the help of Syntactic tool developed for Grasshopper – Rhinoceros application and UCL Dephtmap X application to perform an axial integration analysis and measure possible social performance in the built flats environment. The tools and method used in this research proven helpful for the architect to evaluate his or her design ideas in the process of decision making and design development. In this context to design a vertical kampong based on specific parameters to achieve the optimal socio-spatial performance in the built flats environment.
