Abstract

Limasan and Joglo houses are vernacular buildings originated from Yogyakarta, Central Java. The two buildings have different roof types that affect the thermal condition. The research takes place in Ndalem Ngabean Resto, located in Kraton sub-district, during the rainy season in November 2022. There are three vernacular buildings and two roof types that were measured to collect data. The research aims to discover the difference in thermal condition between the indoor and outdoor environment based on the roof type of Limasan and Joglo. The thermal data was collected quantitatively by using thermo recorders to measure the temperature and humidity inside and outside the three buildings for 24 hours. The indoor thermo recorder was put right below the center of the roof of each building. In this paper, the data measured shows the difference between temperature and humidity under the pendopo’s joglo roof, the Kudus house’s joglo roof, and the limasan roof compared to the not-shaded outdoor area.
