The rapid construction of metro has adapted and guided the changing spatial layout in cities. Revealing the spatial relationship between the metro network and population distribution is essential for promoting low-carbon travel. First, adopting dynamic big data offered by Baidu heat map, the GIS tool was used to extract the characteristics of population distribution change in one day, and identify the median point of metro network. Second, the spatial relationship of the two was measured using two indicators: the degree of the fitness and direction consistency. The results show that the median point of the metro in Xi'an was located at BeiDaJie Station, while the population center of gravity was located to the northeast of it. There was a large spatial mismatch between the two points with a distance of [3.2-5.8] km. In addition, compared to weekend periods, the degree of the fitness changed more regularly during weekdays, and showed a bimodal symmetry with values between 0.45 and 0.85. The direction consistency was 0.364, indicating that the overall coordination between them was low, and the space quadrant with the worst direction consistency was Baqiao district. This study has important implications for achieving sustainable urban development.Downloads
