jailcd2019-040: The Evolution of Three-way Partnership in Chinese and Western Urban Renewal

Abstract

With  the  continuous  urbanization  of China,  urban  renewal  has  gradually  become  one  of the  urban development  themes  of  many  cities  in  China.  Urban  renewal  involves  multi-stakeholders  such  as  the government, developers and the public. In the process of urban renewal, there will be many problems arising from conflicts of interest between the three, which could keep changing their roles. The urban renewal of UK could be considered as the typical representative of Western urban renewal. The evolution process of the relationship between the three parties is particularly clear in the UK which has a systematic urban renewal stage. By comparing the similarities and differences of the evolution in the three-way partnership between the Chinese and British urban renewal, it can provide a feasible reference for the three-way partnership in Chinese urban renewal.
