Abstract

Artificial Intelligence as a discipline has brought new changes and opportunities to many pending issues in various industries, and Intelligent Generative Design is a model for the application of Artificial Intelligence in the field of architecture. Although its application in the field of architecture is still at an early stage, it has brought many promising results. This means that there is a huge potential for “digital intelligence” technology. Deep Learning and Shape Grammar have been frequently mentioned as two of the main methods used in Numerical Intelligence in the field of architecture. In this paper, we investigate the development history of Numerical Intelligence in architecture and the application of data-driven and model-driven techniques in the fields of building facade generation and optimal design of buildings, and analyze the remaining shortcomings of “Digital Intelligence”technology in the field of architecture, in order to promote the reinvention of “digital intelligence”technology in the field of architecture.
