Abstract

In recent years, there has been growing focus on rural revitalization with the increasingly severe issue of imbalanced urban and rural development. To gain insights into the current research hot spots and trends in the field of rural spatial structure domestically and internationally, we employed CITESPACE, a literature visualization-based analysis tool, to search for articles on rural spatial structure from CNKI and WOS databases. Limited collaboration is found to exist between authors after collaboration pattern analysis, but no
well-established cooperation network formed in this field yet. Additionally, map of keywords, keyword clustering, and burstiness are generated. It’s revealed that rural spatial structure study has undergone three stages: initial stage, development stage, and current rapid growth stage. The primary research hots pots regarding domestic and international studies are found to be rural spatial, production-living-ecological spaces, rural tourism development, and sustainable development. Domestic research hot spots mainly include the influential factors and evolution process of rural spatial structure, the optimization and overall development of production-living-ecological spaces. While foreign studies emphasize biodiversity conservation, infrastructur enhancement, ecological environment optimization, balanced urban-rural development while ensuring sustainability etc. Moreover, composition mechanism of rural space, urban-rural integration, production-living-ecological spaces optimization, and sustainable development will be future research trends.
