jailcd2018006: Study of Urban Regeneration to Be Adapted to Kitakyushu City Based on the Renovation in Eastern Germany

Abstract

The urban regeneration program in the eastern part of Germany is one of the newest projects set up through the measures of the promotion by the nation and its states. This project aims at guaranteeing and improving citizens’ lives and their labor quality. €2.5 billion in total was invested to regenerate the towns 2002 through 2009.According to the program, the extra living spaces were reduced but the central part of the town became more attractive to young people, and the depopulating areas got stimulating. This project started in the eastern part of Germany based on “Urban Regeneration Contest” held in 2002. This study shows the renovation program adapted to Kitakyushu City according to the renovation in the eastern part of Germany
