Abstract

The passengers in public transport were designed to use the corridor space in transit station to access transit services. Especially in the transit station where designed according to multi transportation, the station has become a critical part of the connection trip. The space which connects between each transit mode within the station is an important function to transfer the passengers from one mode to another modes. The functions of corridor space is various by the activities. The provided functions space in the different corridor spaces depended on the time that passengers have to spend in their trip or time schedule to connect between each transit modes. This study was analysis the functions of corridor spaces in Fukuoka prefecture’s transit oriented development (TOD) area. The study selected three major transportation nodes which operation the bus system and railway system for identifying the function’s characteristic of corridor spaces. The type of function which found in selected stations according to four major corridor activities as; ‘area connection corridor’, ‘commercial corridor’, ‘facility corridor’ and ‘residential corridor’ were classify into three zone as; ‘access
zone’, ‘facility zone’, and ‘transfer zone’.
