This paper presents an empirical investigation into the impact of flotation on biomass fly ash and its suitability for incorporation into cementitious composites. A total of 4 distinct biomass fly ash samples derived from diverse power plants were subjected to flotation, and a comparative analysis of their physical and chemical characteristics pre- and post-flotation was conducted. Subsequently, these treated fly ash samples were integrated into cement to formulate cement-based composites, and their feasibility was examined. The reactivity of cement paste was assessed at various ages, and chemical composition analyses revealed that flotation positively influenced most types of biomass fly ash in cement-based composites. Specifically, there are two kinds of fly ash after flotation, complied with the JIS ash standard, affirming the applicability of biomass fly ash in cementitious composites.Downloads
