jailcd2018033: Study on the Method of Delimiting the Scope of Xi'an Urban Central Area

Abstract

This paper takes the central district of Xi'an as an example, on the basis of the " three core-in-one theory" proposed by professor Yang Junyan, the fourth factor influencing the determination of urban central area is added - the degree of public service facilities agglomeration, and then the " four core enclosing method" is put forward. This paper uses different methods of gravity core calculation, such as ArcGIS, spatial syntax and big data (POI data), to make a quantitative analysis and inference. Finally, determining the core of urban population distribution in Xi'an, the core of road transport accessibility, the geometric core of urban land and the core of public service facilities, so the encircled area of the four core is the central district of Xi'an. In the past, people often determined the urban central area by intuitive understanding and the experience of planners, but the application of " four core enclosing method" and other various techniques and quantitative methods, has significantly improve the scientificalness and accuracy of the central area decision.
