dinary chimneys. The difference is that the heat collected by solar collectors can keep the walls of the solar chimney at a high temperature. Openings provided at the bottom and top of the chimney allow room air to enter and leave the channel. Solar chimney is designed to maximize ventilation effect by maximizing solar gain, thereby creating a sufficient temperature difference between the inside and outside of the building to drive an adequate air flow rate. This paper uses CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modelling technique tocalculate the ventilation of the solar chimney with different sizes and temperatures, and analyzes the effect of using solar chimney to enhance the natural ventilation. The results show that the solar chimney can greatly enhance the natural ventilation. The results also show that the chimney width and wall temperature has a verysignificant effect on flow rate. The results shows that there is an optimum width beyond which the average exit velocity would decrease. The average exit velocity rises with the wall temperature. Detail information for air velocity and temperature distribution as air passes through the chimney is shown in this paper.
