Abstract

Waste management in urban area is now a concern for many people. Waste generation in landfills become unstoppable followed by rapid population growth. Causing waste production volume increase, especially in residential areas. And the lack of people awareness and knowledge about waste processing make waste management is more difficult to be applied. Most of the waste in Bandung City is organic waste that comes from residential areas. Bandung Lautan Sampah incident in 2005 become a lesson not only for people of but also all of the people in Indonesia how important waste management to reduce waste volume before it is transported to landfills. Composting is the efficient way to process and manage the organic waste. RW 12 Maleer have used the composting program for two years and become a waste free area in Bandung. Until RW 12 Maleer is also used as a sampling site for waste composting to educate people about waste composting.
