In the trend of high-density urban development, small open space has gradually become a popular subject of both designing and research. In the research, two small open spaces with similar size in the historical core of Hangzhou have been selected as the case to study. Based on the traditional method of behavior, this research has improved mapping by two means: first, to conducted random sampling by repeated time periods to get rid of the question of subjectivity, second, to pre-designate symbols for different behavior, information and arrange a technique to use the CAD software, therefore solve the problem of conducting quantitative analysis to abundant behavior information. By the collection of integrated information of both spatial location and behavior, it can help the researchers to answer the fundamental question in the field of environment and behavior studies - how and what extend do the physical and spatial factors of built environment influence people's conception and behavior.
