Abstract

At the great east japan earthquake, lifelines were destroyed widely and variously. In this paper, an overview of lifeline damages is drawn up. The objects are water works, sewage works, electricity, city-gas and communication services.
Although the existing states of damages are various across the objects, its causes were classified roughly into a seismic shock, Tsunami and nuclear pollution at a part. For example, about the water and sewage works, there were many pipe-destructs and little plant-destructs. Many of sewage plant's operations were stopped by Tsunami. Because many of sewage plans were locating near the seashore, plants were flowed into by sea water, sand and so on. Radioactive matters were detected from sludge of some plants.
These lifelines are governed basically by each enterprising body, but it must be considered that also by architectural/urban environmental planning.
