Abstract

One of the features of the heat island phenomenon in urban areas is that wind is obstructed by the building, it
becomes weak wind, air stagnates, and the temperature rises locally due to solar radiation heat and automobile
exhaust heat. In this paper, we call this phenomenon "local temperature rise ". Also, it is considered that the wind is
weakened and the temperature rises as a phenomenon similar to the "a warm, sunny spot effect ".The purpose of
this research is to know the characteristics of the temperature rise effect in the street canyon due to exhaust heat of
automobile using wind tunnel experiment and numerical computation assuming waste heat from automobile as a
surface source. In the wind tunnel experiment, it was confirmed that the local heating effect in the street canyon by
the surface heat source can be seen near the windward surface. In the numerical computation, the relations between
the temperature rise and the heating quantity are studied
